“We hold ourselves accountable to ensure every child has access to choose and own their own books and confidently declare, “I am a Reader.”
—Judy Newman, Chief Impact Officer, Scholastic Inc.
United States of Readers
The United States of Readers (USoR) is a literacy program empowering PreK–8th grade students to choose their own books, build home libraries, and develop the self-confidence and cognitive skills foundational for academic and life success. The program—free to students, teachers, and families—was created in partnership with Scholastic and piloted for two years with funding from author James Patterson. USoR will be delivered to partner schools nationwide by Impact Reading, an independent nonprofit organization engaging Scholastic as the service provider.
